What the manufacturer says:

  • Especially created for antique violins. Excellent response in all dynamic ranges, including pianissimo. These strings enable older instruments to shine with a natural beauty of sound. They have a brilliant, warm and focused sound despite their lower tension. The Brilliant Vintage set is not intended for baroque instruments with lower tuning.

Greetings to everyone. I am a professional violinist, I am playing the violin for 22 years already, so I hope my honest review will help everybody to choose wisely.

The Warchal Brilliant Vintage violin set is a very good choice if you have an antiqued instrument. I have a Carlo Giuseppe Testore violin and a modern del Gesu Copy, i tryed the strings on both the instruments, and indeed, it fits better on the 300 year violin. The normal Warchal Brilliant set fits better on a modern instrument.

The strings are a bit thick, but yet very confortable. They set very fast on the instrument, and already in the 2nd and 3rd day you don't have to wory too much about tuning, they will settle.

The things I like the most about them:
- projection and power is fantastic - better than Evah Pirazzi gold or Passione Solo (especially on G and D string). The A string is very mellow yet strong enough to fit perfectly with the others. I can not say I like the E string from the set, it's a bit thin in sound and "screaming" in the same time (i recommend you from all my heart the Warchal Amber E string, it never wistles and its sounds better than any E string on the market.)
- the coulours you can obtain from them are amazing.
- stability of tuning no metter what you play - Ysaye, Bach, Brahms etc.
- they hold their qualities for more 6 weeks (i have to say i have a lot of tours as soloist or chamber music and i practice a lot also, so i am amazed they can hold like that - i changed before the Peter Infeld sets or Evah Pirazzi in less than 3 weeks).
- great value for money - strings wich are not of this quality cost with 30 % - 50 % more.

Power, stability, resistance, price are 4 qualities that should make you consider trying this strings.

And if you want to be excentric and have the best string combination on this planet (i have it :P ), put on your violins the G and D strings from Warchal Brilliant Vintage, The A string Warchal Russian Style, and the E string Warchal Amber.
Believe me, it's like Heaven coming down on your violin and making you to play like a devil with an angel soul! The combination it purely fantastic!

I hope my review helped you a little bit.
All the best to the fellows violinists who read it.

P.S.: TRY THIS SET. ALL OF YOU! IT'S ABSOLUTELY GREAT.
