I just upgraded the strings on my student violin from Red Labels (gross I know) to Tonicas with the Gold E. The first time I played the string I loved how much less obnoxiously bright it is, it has a sweeter sound the the harsh, bright Red Label. Another thing I noticed was how great the harmonics sound on this string, they are very easy to locate and ring through very nicely. I personally find that it blends very well with the Tonica set and would highly recommend to anyone in the market for a new E string.

I am testing out different e strings for my violin (I am using Obligatos). The first thing I noticed about this e string is that it is very bright! If you are looking for a clean, bright e string, you should try this out. But it doesn't blend too well with my Obligato strings, so I will keep looking!

I tried the Gold E, light gauge, after a year of having played on a Hill soft E. The Pirastro gold is a little louder and brighter and it rings a little more. I am still deciding what I like best, but it's a close race anyhow.

A standard steel e string. It has a nice blend of clarity and warmth. This e is the standard for several of pirastro's sets, such as the wonder tone solo and synoxa. It works particularly well with thomastik dominants. The string tends to rust out quickly.

Quality string at a reasonable price. I feel it has a slightly slow response, but it sounds really nice. I only give a 4-Star rating, because I gave the only 5-Star rating to Goldbrokat. Until I discovered the Goldbrokat, this was my favorite E string. Personal preferences may differ, and this is still something I would recommend.

This is my favorite E string besides the evah pirazzi. I use it when I have Dominants, Tonicas, or visions [these are my favorite brands]. Very nice and responsive. I have no trouble with and it sings in high positions unlike other E strings I've tried. The Gold is just like the Pirazzi in my opinion. Just a little darker.

My go-to E-string.  I have used this string for the past 15 years.  The Pirastro Gold Label E  projects a ton, but is not overly bright to where it would fail to blend with the rest of the strings.
