At the conclusion of an extensive search for a not too harsh sounding E string I have fallen for the Hill soft E. it is just lovely. Not too soft, but very warm and friendly. It lasts very long. I could easily leave it on for more than a year.

A nice, warm E string that is on the softer side. It is reasonably complex for an E string. This softness, however, can be a drawback on some instruments, hence why I rated it as a 4.

I had always heard great things about the Hill E, but never tried it because I was happy with what I had.  Wow, I was missing something great!  This E speaks so clearly throughout the entire length of the string.  For being a wire string it did not whistle as much as most.  Of course it still will with improper technique, but it was much better than any plain wire string I had tried in the past.  The Hill E is not too bright, and seems to blend well with My current set of Infeld Blue.

I always switch out my E on any set with the Hill--kind of you "old faithful" string. I'm always content and satisfied with the results I get from a Hill E string.
