Ah, the humble red label. Here's one string that violinists love to loathe. Who hasn't used them as a beginner first learning to play violin? Red labels may have a hideous tone for classical violin, but they do have a few virtues. The are highly stable, nearly indestructible, respond quickly, and are dirt cheap. They are actually quite popular among fiddle players. I highly discourage any classical player from using these strings. There are much better strings in this price range, such as pirastro's piranito and chromcore sets, as well as d'addario's preludes
