These strings, with gut core, provide a very warm and very complex sound. A string is clear gut and E is their standard steel string. The whole set is extremely well balanced and and the pure gut A paired with steel E and silver wound D results in plethora of overtones, especially in double stops or chords.
The reason I gave 4 stars is because the finishing of D and G strings is not smooth, such in other brands. Another reason is that G string broke overnight after only 1 month of moderate usage. Also G appears to be somewhat weak compared to other brands. I wonder why they do not have a thicker gauge.
The advantage of these strings is in their price. At $50 per set, one can hardly find an alternative.
