Krentz Modulator Review - Tone and Wolf Control

I purchased the Krentz Tone and Wolf Control Modulator specifically to take care of a wolf tone on my viola. I was tired of messing with the weights on the after length of the strings as my instrument only felt more muted after the fact.

The product shipped within the U.S. and arrived in only a few days. The product looks great and packaging really showed the ingenuity of the modulator well (Although slipping a bit to the side of the package during shipping).

As you open the package a pamphlit jumps out, making it clear you are expected to read the manual before installing. The installation process was extremely simple.  I held my viola on its side, dropped the longer end into the viola, and then pressed the small magnet on the outside. It was not only easy to do but felt surprisingly safe on the instrument. There is felt on both parts giving it a soft touch against the wood.

What happened next was magic.

With just a small movement my wolf tone went away. Not only was it gone, but there were no adverse effects on the tone. If anything the tone improved. With moving the magnet around I was able to add a bit of warmth or brilliance to my strings, mainly the lower end. It is a small change, but a change nonetheless. I feel as if this can adjust an instrument's tone like small movements of a sound post can. I am thinking of ordering another one for my violin, sole for the tone adjustment.

I have nothing but praise for this product and 100% endorse any string player, especially those with a wolf tone to pick up the Krentz String Works Modulator.
